    The Senior Radio Communications Engineer will report directly to the C5ISR Center, S&TCD, Tactical Radios Branch, Project Lead, and work hands-on in a laboratory and field environment on the development, enhancement, maintenance and testing of the Operating Environment and Waveform SW that resides in all Client software-defined Radio products. The Senior Radio/SW Engineer must have a thorough technical understanding of radio operating systems and waveforms used by the US Army such as the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW), the Tactical Scalable MANET (TSM) waveform, UHF Military SATCOM, MUOS, and SINCGARS waveforms and operation. In addition, knowledge of the Integrated Waveform (IW), VHF/UHF LOS (VULOS), ATC, Havequick II, and HF is desired. The Senior Engineer should be a subject matter expert in SW, as well as a SME in the areas of radio communications and networking. The Senior Engineer will act as a technical advisor to the government Project Lead in matters related to Client’s Radio products, and ongoing technical investigations and test efforts. The Senior Engineer will understand and monitor Vendors’ SW Product Roadmaps, to include the direction of future capabilities, and play and active role in Engineering Review Boards. The Senior Engineer must understand the capability needs of the Army Warfighter and how the SW Defined Radios (SDRs) can meet those needs. The Senior Engineer must understand the current state of a Vendor’s radio SW, to include known issues and limitations, and understand, document and track the list of open Problem Reports, Trouble Tickets, or Change Request. The Senior Engineer will provide technical guidance to other more junior Engineers and Test Personnel regarding test planning and execution, and the test methodologies required to verify PR and CR resolution for Close Out. The Senior Communications Engineer shall support Technical Review Boards, will participate in Technical Interchange Meetings and Engineering Review Boards, and will review and comment on SW Design Descriptions, SW Version Descriptions, and review / analyze requirements documents such as Capabilities Production Documents, Performance Requirement Documents, and Test & Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs). The Senior Engineer will help develop and review Test Plans, Procedures and Reports, analyze test data, and support all engineering test activities. The Senior Engineer must also work closely with outside organizations that interact with the SW products, such as the Waveforms Product Manager, PM Mission Command (Joint Battle Command and Fires Community), the Joint Enterprise Network Manager (JENM), the JTNC Test and Evaluation Lab (JTEL), JITC and NSA as required. This candidate should have a solid understanding of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to effectively interact with members of the Army acquisition workforce as well as junior and senior engineers, and Military personnel. The candidate is expected to take initiative and complete tasks as assigned without constant supervision and guidance. Some experience in project management is desired. The Senior Engineer will keep the Project Lead abreast of current activities and work progress through the submission of weekly status reports.


    • Active Secret security clearance required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering discipline with practical experience required
    • 5 years of experience required
    • 1+ years in object oriented programming, preferably C#/C++/ Objective C, Java
    • Experience with SW defined radios, waveforms, and other communications devices
    • Good knowledge of IP internetworking and computing
    • Familiarity with mobile interfaces, mobile interaction guidelines and best practices
    • Up to 50% travel required
